Srinagar, Nov 07: Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader and MLA Kulgam, Mohamad Yousuf Tarigami on Thursday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of creating more noise than constructive dialogue in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly.
Speaking to Rising Kashmir after the Assembly session was adjourned on Thursday, Tarigami expressed disappointment with the BJP’s conduct, describing it as “not suitable”.
“They (BJP) have a responsibility to represent the people, to raise their issues, and to present their perspectives in the House through debate,” he said.
MLA Kulgam said the Speaker had repeatedly offered members the chance to discuss and debate key issues, even inviting criticism and pledging to record every perspective. However, according to Tarigami, some BJP members chose not to engage in meaningful dialogue.
“The noise isn’t helping the people of Jammu and Kashmir—it only causes harm,” he said, adding that it is important to listen and seek solutions collaboratively, especially on pressing issues like inflation.
The CPI(M) leader urged fellow lawmakers to bridge differences through constructive debate rather than disruption. “It is appropriate for us to understand each other’s viewpoints. Let’s talk, listen, and find a way forward,” he said.
