JAMMU: A delegation of young lawyers met with National Conference Additional General Secretary Ajay Sadhotra and Provincial President Jammu Rattan Lal Gupta here on Saturday.
The meeting, presided over by Harshvardhan Singh, President of the JKNC Student Wing, focused on addressing critical issues facing the youth and the broader community in the region, the party said in a statement issued here.
During the meeting, the young lawyers apprised the senior functionaries of the J&K National Conference, highlighting the significant challenges prevailing under the “proxy government” of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Jammu and Kashmir.
“They emphasised the failure of the present administration to deliver on its promises, leading to a sense of disillusionment among the populace. The absence of coherent youth-centric policies and the alarming surge in crime rates were among the key issues raised by the delegation,” the statement said.
Ajay Sadhotra, in his address, underscored the BJP’s “inability” to meet the expectations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “The future of youth under the present dispensation is bleak. There is an urgent need for transformative leadership that prioritises the welfare and aspirations of the region’s youth,” he said.
Rattan Lal Gupta asserted that people from all sections of society are “adversely affected” by the present administration’s policies. “The highly educated youth of J&K are suffering and the government is watching like a mute spectator despite knowing the fact that this Union Territory has topped among the unemployment as compared to rest of the country,” he said.
The Provincial President said that the need of the hour is to change the government at the Centre by voting and supporting INDIA alliance candidates of upcoming Parliamentary elections Omar Abdullah from Baramulla Parliamentary Constituency, Age Syed Rahullah from Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency and Mian Altaf from Anantnag Rajouri Parliamentary Constituency.
He emphasised the importance of unity and solidarity among the youth, urging them to stand together in pursuit of a shared vision for a better tomorrow. He urged them to “strengthen the hands of Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah for the brighter future of J&K”.
Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, Provincial Secretary JKNC called upon the youth of Jammu and Kashmir to actively engage in the democratic process, emphasising the importance of supporting the INDIA alliance in the ongoing Lok Sabha polls as a critical step towards effecting meaningful change.
