BIG Cricket League 2024 kicks off with a pledge for cleanliness

Jammu, Dec 04: Jammu’s pioneer private FM station 92.7 Big FM that always believes in bringing meaningful and purpose driven campaigns alongwith entertainment for its listeners today threw open The BIG Cricket League 2024. The tournament commenced today at Jammu sports club kot tawa with a grand ceremony, bringing together cricket and a powerful message of cleanliness and sustainability.
Ms. Anoo Malhotra, Director General, Rural Sanitation, inaugurated the tournament by playing the first ball under the campaign “Lets Swing for Swachhta.”
Adding to the event’s significance, RJ Juhie from Big FM was appointed as the Swachhta Ambassador, furthering the message of cleanliness and inspiring youth participation. She led the event by making the participants take a pledge to devote at least 100 hours annually to cleanliness.
The ceremony also included a tour of stalls showcasing recycled and sustainable products by various organisations like Umeed, SBM (G) etc. emphasizing the importance of adopting eco-friendly practices and products.
The opening match between Swachhta Strikers and Jal Shakti Warriors marked the start of the competition which was won by Swachhta Strikers followed by the second match between Chief Secretary 11 and Swachhta Warriors which was won by Chief Secretary 11.
The league will witness 19 matches to be played between 12 teams. It features cash prizes of up to ₹2 lakhs. Tomorrow’s fixtures include a match between Hill View Rajouri and Road Safety 11, followed by Mulan CC facing Infra Business.
The BIG Cricket League 2024 is supported by the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Directorate of Rural Sanitation – J&K, as the title sponsor. It is presented by the Jal Shakti Department and powered by SMVD Narayana Super Speciality Hospital. Associate partners include Shree Bajrang Bali Contract Company and Jammu Hev’s, with Aroma Muticusine Family Restaurant as the refreshment partner and myphysio as physio partner.
By blending the excitement of cricket with a commitment to cleanliness, the BIG Cricket League 2024 is not only an engaging sporting event but also a platform to inspire communities towards a cleaner and greener India.
The event was graced by senior officials from the Department including Mohammad Mumtaz Ali, Director Rural Development Jammu, Sham Lal, Director Panchayati Raj, Rajneesh Gupta, CEO Himayat, ACP Jammu and other senior officers.
