After three days of tireless efforts, Wildlife Department and Army on Thursday caught brown bear alive at Shahgund Village of Hajin area in North Kashmir’s Bandipora District.
A wildlife official, Nazir Ahmad told Rising Kashmir that Wildlife and army deployed in the area from last three days caught the animal by firing four darts which tranquilised it.
He said that it was a rare case as brown bear don’t come to human habitations and added that the bear forced them to chase it for 20 Kilometers radius throughout the day.
He further said that Brown bear was caught in human habitation which is an alarming situation, and both people and government must take steps to safe forests and wildlife habitations.
Meanwhile locals hailed efforts of wildlife department and added that men of wildlife caged themselves for nights to tranquillise the animal.
