It seems that South Asia is going to witness another political turmoil on the Eastern borders of India with the turmoil reaching the next level in Bangladesh. The head of the interim government Muhammad Yunus is being forced to resign after he was called to lead the destabilised Bangladesh by overthrowing the elected Sheikh Hasina government in the recent past. The reason being that the political crisis is deepening in Bangladesh and the political parties are unable to reach a common ground. The so called students revolution that was termed as mass uprising to overhaul the corruption and other excesses by the previous regime that was forcibly overthrown after hooliganism turned out to be the well-orchestrated game plan to drive Bangladesh towards regression and radicalisation. The street violence and riots that destroyed the socio-cultural and religious space of the religious minorities reminded the keen observers of the Indian sub-continent of the events that led to the Direct Action enacted by the Muslim League to inflict genocide on the religious minorities to catalyse partition of India. But this time the motive was not the partition but complete takeover of the political space of Bangladesh by inflicting genocide on the religious minorities in the open. Though it was already on. But this time the spark was turned into inferno with total genocidal attrition and vitriol was added by indulging in the open spitting of venom against India not only by the religious fanatics but by the so called Nobel laureate who was imported to lead the rioters to complete the process of radicalisation. The Nobel Laureate broke all records to bring the India-Bangladesh relations to all time low and vandalise all the relics of the Bangladesh founder Sheikh Mujib-ur-Rehman. With each passing day his intentions and those of who called him to lead Bangladesh became clear as he joined hands with Pakistani military junta and the closeness of the two armies and joint training made it clear that Bangladesh in more the home of 1971 Bengalis who were subjected to genocide but the laboratory of Pakistan to expand its nefarious designs to open the Eastern Front against India. Perhaps it is a rare spectacle in history of genocide ridden people that they have joined hands with their genocide enablers and give consent to pursue their agenda of genocidal attrition and oust and exterminate the progressive forces. It should be matter of concern for the security analysts in India that well before going into conflict with India after the Indian response to Pahalgam carnage, Pakistan had done a lot of homework to encircle India on the Western borders through Bangladesh and it is no surprise that Chinese hand in fomenting the political crisis in Bangladesh came to the fore with a few days of mob violence. And Bangladesh’s goodwill towards China was vivid and clear from the political statements that were in the public domain. The political pronouncements made after the forcible regime change were clearly anti-India and pro-Pakistan and pro-China making it clear the objective is to encircle India. One thing is clear that Bangladesh is again East Pakistan and thus India is facing an extension of Pakistani game plan to subdue India with China using them as pawns to checkmate Indian rise. Not only that, the presence of American hand in Bangladesh’s regime change is quite evident. And during Operation Sindoor the way the US played its game made it clear that it has not lost love for Pakistani subversion. After the US gave logistic to Pakistan to indulge with the erstwhile USSR but General Zia-ul-Haq’s military regime was shrewd enough to use the American money and weapons in Kashmir to inflict an asymmetrical war on India that was wrongly termed as proxy war. Operation TOPAC was a complete plan of stepwise war to balkanise India which was misread by the Indian strategic community for decades, giving space to Pakistani fissiparous tendencies to vivisect India. The Indian security grid needs to be overhauled and a comprehensive National Security Doctrine put in place by internalising these developments. Operation Sindoor has set a new normal for India’s national security. Time has come to deal proactively with these developments to uphold the national security and the national interest.
