A young man lost his life and another sustained serious injuries while returning from an army recruitment rally in Kupwara district on Tuesday.

The accident occurred when the scooty, bearing registration number JK01AL9892, was hit by a tipper at Natusa, Kupwara, causing severe injuries to the two riders.

The injured individuals were identified as Muzaffar Ahmad Lone, son of Ghulam Qadar Lone, a resident of Tulail, Gurez, and Rehan Ahmed Sheikh, son of Gulab Sheikh, from Bandipora. Sadly, Muzaffar Ahmad Lone, who was riding the scooty, succumbed to his injuries en route to the hospital, while Rehan Ahmed Sheikh is currently undergoing treatment and is reported to be in stable condition.

A police official confirmed the incident, stating that a case has been registered under relevant sections of law, and an investigation is underway to ascertain the cause of the accident.

Chief Medical Officer Kupwara, Dr. Ramzan, informed Rising Kashmir that one individual was brought dead, while the injured person is receiving medical care. After completing legal formalities, the deceased’s body was handed over to his family.

Notably, the duo had been returning from an ongoing army recruitment event in Panzgam, Kupwara, when the tragic incident occurred.
