Balochistan is again in the news. The movement for independence has gained traction and Balochis are asserting their freedom from Pakistan. It has been treated as a colony by the Pakistani establishment and indulged in the gross human rights violation of its common people and the activists who are raising voice against the policy of repression and genocide imposed by Pakistan on the freedom loving Balochis. A well organised social media campaign was seen today across the globe that urged Indian media and the world at large not to refer to Balochs as “Pakistan’s Own People”. Baloch leader Mir Yar Baloch has openly claimed that Balochistan was never a part of Pakistan. In his social media post he has asserted that Balochis have declared their independence on 11th August 1947 when the British were leaving Balochistan and the subcontinent. Putting things in perspective he writes in his social media post, “ Dear Indians patriot media, the youtube comrades, the intellectuals fighting to defend Bharat are suggested not to refer to Balochs as ‘Pakistan’s Own People’. We are not Pakistani, we are Balochistani. Pakistan’s own people are the Punjabi who never faced air bombings, enforced disappearances and genocide.” Amid India-Pakistan conflict in which Pakistan is witnessing severe instability due to its internal socio-political crisis, the Balochis have expressed support to India and this has been substantiated by Mir in his social media expressions. He has not stopped here but gone beyond and said that China is helping Pakistan but Balochistan and its people are with the Government of Bharat and has tagged Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his social media post by expressing solidarity by saying that 60 million Baloch patriots are with India in this ongoing conflict. Fault lines in Pakistan are coming out in the open and the people are speaking openly about the vicious crisis in Pakistan due to its support of terrorism that has become its state policy both internally and externally. India’s punitive action by targeting the terrorist bases in Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK) and Bahawalpur in Pakistan has given hope to the people in various provinces of Pakistan that they will be freed from the feudal and theo-fascist politico-military structure of Pakistan. It is pertinent to mention that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that over hundred terrorists were eliminated in the Operation Sindoor devised to punish the perpetrators of Pahalgam carnage that shocked the whole India. Social media has been flooded with the hashtag and posts claiming the independence of Balochistan from Pakistan. It seems that history is being repeated again. In the 1971 Indo-Pakistan conflict in which the outcome was the deliverance and freedom of East Pakistan from the genocidal attrition of the radical and feudal military junta of Pakistan by enabling the creation of Bangladesh. Now in the Indo-Pakistan conflict in the aftermath of Pahalgam carnage that has again checkmated Pakistan and exposed it in the comity of nations as a terrorist state is giving a glimmer of hope to the Balochis who have been subjected to continuous genocide by Pakistan. They are seeing their independence from the repression and atrocities being inflicted by Pakistani establishment that thrives on inflicting genocide.International community must step in and recognise the genocidal attrition of Balochis who are striving for their freedom from Pakistan.
