Auqib wreaks havoc, Abid spins web as well-knit J&K crushes Meghalaya by 7 wkts

Shillong, Nov 8: Continuing his bowling brilliance, Auqib Nabi took two consecutive fifers against Meghalaya, taking his tally to four 5-wicket hauls so far in four matches this season, while Abid Mushtaq spun web around the rival batsmen, capturing 5 wickets in the first innings and small but good contributions with the willow by the quartet of Abid Mushtaq (37), Abdul Samad (34), Vivrant Sharma (32*), and Skipper Paras Dogra (15*) in twin innings on a bowling friendly surface powered Jammu and Kashmir to a resounding victory over Meghalaya in the Ranji Trophy Elite Group-A match at NCA Cricket Ground, Polo Ground Shillong on Friday.
Earlier, Auqib Nabi and Abid Mushtaq plotted the collapse of Meghalaya’s first innings, bundling them out for paltry 73 runs. Arpit Bhatewara (24) and Bamanbha Shangpliang (21) were the main contributors.
Medium pacer Auqib Nabi captured 5 wickets by conceding 14 runs in his 9 overs, while Abid Mushtaq took 5 wickets by giving away 19 runs in his 15.3 overs.
In reply, J&K scored 194 runs in their first innings thus gaining a sizeable lead of 121 runs. Abid Mushtaq scored magnificent 37 runs, while Abdul Samad contributed power-packed 34 runs. Shubham Khajuria also contributed 19 runs to the total.
For Meghalaya, Aryan Bora took 5/42 in his 9.4 overs, while Akash Choudhary bagged 3/55 in his 20 overs.
Meghalaya in the second essay scored 195 runs to set a target of 75 runs for J&K. Arpit Bhatewara scored a masterclass 74 runs, while Sumit Kumar contributed 36 runs to the total.
For J&K, the first innings standout bowler again emerged as the wrecker-in-chief, taking 5/60 in his 19 overs, while speedster Yudhvir Singh bagged 2/32 in his 10.1 overs.
J&K chased the target easily, scoring 77/3, thus winning the match by 7 wickets to earn 6 vital points, taking their points tally to 17 points in the four matches played so far.
Vivrant Sharma remained unbeaten on 32 runs, while Paras Dogra contributed unbeaten 15.runs to the total.
Auqib Nabi was declared as the player of the match for his match haul of 10 wickets.
The Sub Committee Members of JKCA including Brig Anil Gupta, Member-Administration, Mr Mithun Manhas, Member Cricket Operations and Development and Advocate Mr Sunil Sethi, Member Legal Affairs JKCA have congratulated the players and the support staff for this big win. They lavished praise on Head Coach, Mr Ajay Sharma and other members of the management for a fabulous show of the team so far this season.
