Anantnag, Jun 01: Assam Agriculture Minister Atul Bora on Sunday visited the home of Syed Adil Hussain Shah, one of the victims of the April 22, 2025, terror attack in Pahalgam, and handed over a cheque of Rs 5 lakh as financial assistance on behalf of the Assam government.
The minister, accompanied by Bokakhat Co-District Commissioner (CDC) Shivani Jerngal and officials from the Jammu and Kashmir government, visited the bereaved family at Hapatnar, a remote area in Anantnag district of south Kashmir. The visit was made under the direction of Assam Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Speaking to reporters, Bora said, “Jammu and Kashmir is a Nandavan (paradise), and Pahalgam is the heart of this region. But the April 22nd attack, in which 26 people were killed by Pakistani attackers, is a very tragic and painful incident. We pay heartfelt tributes to Syed Adil.”
He added, “We wanted to meet the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, but he is not in the station at the moment. However, we will be meeting the Lieutenant Governor this evening (Sunday) to share the concerns of the family.”
Calling for unity, Bora said, “We are all one and must remain united. The world has condemned this attack and expressed support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. We have to live together and work together.”
