Srinagar, Aug 26: Indian Army has taken a significant step towards promoting knowledge and empowering the youth by introducing ‘Battle of Minds’ – the Indian Army Quiz 2023, along with its captivating logo.
The launch event took place at the Manekshaw Centre in Delhi Cantonment, commemorating the 25th year of Kargil Vijay Divas celebrations and paying tribute to the valor of the Indian Armed Forces in the Kargil War.
This landmark initiative underlines the Army’s commitment to nurturing intellectual growth and inspiring young minds across the nation. It aims to celebrate history while igniting curiosity and learning among the youth, molding the leaders of tomorrow.
Lieutenant General MV Suchindra Kumar, Vice Chief of the Army Staff, graced the event. The quiz competition’s logo was unveiled by Mrs. Archana Pande, President AWWA.
The presence of Param Vir Chakra Awardees Subedar Major (Honorary Captain) Yogendra Singh Yadav (Retired) and Subedar Major Sanjay Kumar added to the occasion, along with Principals from schools across all 36 states and Union Territories of India.
The initiative aims to engage around 1.5 lakh schools nationwide, representing every district of India, with an expected registration of approximately 15,000 schools.
This participation is projected to involve nearly 1.5 crore students across the country. Teams from co-educational schools must include at least one female student, and participants should fall within the age group of 10 to 16 years.
The competition will be conducted in a hybrid format, combining online and offline modes. It will unfold in regional, inter-command, and national levels.
The quiz consists of two stages: an online elimination round followed by a regional Command-level offline competition leading to the Grand Finale. This format ensures a thorough assessment of participants’ knowledge and skills, ultimately recognizing the most deserving winners.
The quiz competition’s framework focuses on five key aspects: Inclusivity: Open to all schools using English as the primary or secondary medium of instruction.
Equity: Ensuring representation of female participants from co-ed schools for balance.
Fair Play: Upholding meritocracy through accessible tutorials.
Free Registration: The registration is free.
Attractive Prizes: Offering rewards exceeding 4 crore rupees, including buses for top schools and laptops for students and teachers.
The initiative will be promoted through Teach India, emphasizing pedagogy-based learning and showcasing the Indian Army’s role in nation-building, the Kargil Victory, and post-war transformations.
Beyond assessing general awareness, this quiz provides a vibrant platform for grassroots-level youth to test their knowledge of culture, science, technology, and innovation. It aims to raise awareness among students about their role in nation-building. The logo, name, and tagline of ‘Battle of Minds’ encapsulate profound significance, resonating with the esteemed legacy of the Indian Army. The logo’s formation sign represents unity and discipline, with the maroon and metallic bronze colors symbolizing strength and resilience.
