Srinagar, Nov 28: Apni Party president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Thursday expressed deep concern over “unscheduled, frequent and prolonged power outages” in Srinagar city and other parts of the valley.
In a statement issued here, Bukhari said, “Unfortunately, the government is failing to ensure the required power supply to consumers in Jammu and Kashmir. Reports from across Srinagar city and other parts of the valley indicate that the power department is not adhering to its own outage schedule. Unscheduled and frequent power cuts in both metered and non-metered areas are causing immense problems for residents.”
“With the harsh winter and Chillai Kalan yet to begin, if the government fails to provide adequate power now, one can only imagine the situation in the coming days. Officials say J&K faces a 700 MW power shortfall. The government must act quickly to bridge the gap between allocation and demand,” he added.
Meanwhile, Apni Party’ District Body Srinagar held an important meeting on Thursday at the party headquarters here to discuss certain important party matters and public issues, besides having deliberations over the current political scenario.
The meeting was presided over by the District President Srinagar Mohammad Shafi Mir, while prominent party leaders including Chief Spokesperson Muntazir Mohiuddin were present on the occasion.
According to a press release, during the meeting, the leaders focused on discussing various issues and formulating a future strategy to strengthen the party at the grassroots level in Srinagar district.
“The leaders and senior workers from Srinagar engaged in a thorough discussion on a range of issues. They discussed certain party issues and made decisions for their redressal. They shared their ideas and personal feedback about the grassroots-level situation across Srinagar, highlighting the need for continued engagement with the public to address their concerns effectively,” the press release reads.
