Authorities on Friday suspended the annual Amaranth yatra, which had commenced on July Ist due to inccesent rains on twin Baltal and Pahalgam route .
The two-month-long pilgrimage to the holy cave shrine in central Kashmir Himalayas was suspended temporarily as heavy rains on Friday rendered 16-km Baltal and Pahalgam routes, said official sources.
He said no pilgrim was allowed from either side to the cave on Friday as a precautionary measure.
It has been raining heavily enroute the cave shrine with extreme cold weather prevailing in the region, he said.
The yatra will be resume once weather improves, he added.
Sources said that yatris, who had already arrived at yatra base camp Baltal and Pahalgam route brought back by the authorities.
