Srinagar, Dec 01: In a remarkable display of skill and determination, Alishba Jeelani, a 9th-grade student at Delhi Public School Srinagar, has emerged as a shining star in the 11th Junior Pencak Silat National Championship held at Patliputra Stadium, Patna, Bihar.
Competing against a formidable field of 1700 players from across the nation, Alishba Jeelanidaughter of Tanveer Jeelani, Senior Superintendent of Police clinched the Silver medal in her weight category, standing out among 32 participants. The intense finals witnessed her exceptional prowess and ability to rise above the competition.
The Pencak Silat team of SKISC, to which Alishba belongs, collectively secured an impressive tally of 13 medals, showcasing their dominance in the Mega Championship. The Sports Minister of Bihar, Jitinder Kumar Roi, graced the event as the chief guest, alongside the Director General of Sports and other dignitaries, who honored Alishba for her outstanding performance throughout the championship.
Encouraged by her stellar achievements, Alishba Jeelani has been selected for the national camps, paving her way to represent India in the 5th Junior World Pencak Silat Championship 2023 scheduled to be held in Singapore in January 2024.
