Budgam, Dec 17: To protect the Bemina residents from the floods, the Irrigation Division Budgam on Friday asked the general public to remove all illegal encroachments on the Bemina Nallah, from Khomeini Chowk to Durbal Bridge, so they could start work on the Nallah under the Flood Management Phase 2 programme in the area.
Executive Engineer of Irrigation Division Budgam, Anbreen Anjum, told Rising Kashmir that in order to protect Bemina residents from the floods, we are going to start work on Bemina Nallah from Khomeini Chowk to Durbal bridge under the Flood Management Phase-II Program.
“We are going to start the work, so that we can strengthen and secure the banks on both sides of the Bemina Nallah from Khomeini Chowk to Durbal Bridge”. “In this regard, the general public has been asked to remove all illegal constructions and encroachments within five days so that the department will not face any problem in starting the work on the nallah,” Anjum said.
She said that the notice had also been issued to the people who live in the vicinity of the Bemina Nallah.
“In case any person fails to remove illegal encroachments from this nallah, the Jal Shakti Irrigation and Flood Control department will take legal action under Section 67 of the Water Resources Act, 2010 to remove all illegal constructions and encroachments,” she informed.
