Kulgam, Jan 24: The revenue department has initiated scheduled public reading sessions to identify and rectify any land record errors among landholders in Kulgam tehsils, organized village-wise.
According to a notice issued by Tehsildar Kulgam public in general and the landholders of Tehsil Kulgam in particular are hereby informed that the Digitized Jamabandis of all the 81 villages within the jurisdiction of Tehsil Kulgam will be read out in Public for rectification of the errors, if any.
Hilal Ahmad, attending a reading session in Nillow village, said the central government’s initiative of online Jamabandis under the “Land Records Modernization Programme,” allows everyone to check their land records at their fingertips.
“The public reading session is cross-checking our land records, ensuring we have accurate online records for hassle-free online services. This is also an awareness program where common landholders get to know about the process of online procuring of Jamabandis,” he said
“Village-wise schedule for reading out the digitized Jamabandis has already been issued from this office. As such all the concerned are informed to attend the said programme and inform about the errors in the digitized revenue record, if any so that the same can be rectified before freezing of the jamabndis,” says Bilal Ahmad, Tehsildar Kulgam.
“All the old land records have been scanned and uploaded onto the Land Records Information System (LRIS). Landholders or any citizen can check various details such as Jamabandi, Girdawari, and Latha, Mutation Registers. The Revenue Department is witnessing a revolutionary transition in Digitised land Records,” Tehsildar said.
He said that once the jamabandis are frozen there will be no change possible in the digitized record unless ordered by the competent court.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner (DC), Kulgam Athar Aamir Khan taking to microblogging site X and said that public Reading of Digitized Jamabandies is being done in all Tehsils of Kulgam. The exercise is being done in order to ensure that our citizens can check the details of their land records with ease and the records are made error-free.
“All citizens are requested to make sure they check their own land records. They can attend these public readings or visit our Patwar Ghars,” he said.
