Jammu, April 21: Additional Director General of Police (Armed), J&K Monday officially declared the Inter-Battalion Sports Meet–2025 open during a vibrant and spirited inaugural ceremony held at Gulshan Ground, Jammu.
While addressing the gathering, Jain extended a warm welcome to all the participating contingents from the 34-Armed Police units and expressed satisfaction over the meticulous preparations made for the successful conduct of the event. As the Chairman of the five-day sporting extravaganza, the ADGP commended the officers entrusted with various responsibilities for their dedicated efforts in organizing the meet. A statement said that a total of 34 units—18 based in the Valley and 16 from the Jammu region—are participating in 40 different sporting disciplines, including events for Gazetted Officers.
Highlighting the importance of such events, Jain said that the Sports Meet is a celebration of strength, spirit, solidarity, within the Armed Police. “Today, we are not merely inaugurating a sports competition but reaffirming a tradition that embodies discipline, dedication, and determination—the core values of our Police Parivar,” he said. Recalling the successful conduct of the Inter-Battalion Sports Meet in 2021 following the COVID-19 pandemic, the ADGP noted the commendable performance of the participating units. He expressed hope that this year’s participants would carry forward that legacy with renewed enthusiasm and commitment.
Jain also extended greetings to the retired and serving Police Officers, Players, Managers, and Spectators present at the event. He emphasized that such events foster camaraderie and offer opportunities to forge new friendships among personnel of different battalions. Appreciating the efforts made by the DIG Armed and Commandants of the Jammu City- based battalions, he lauded the excellent arrangements put in place for the smooth conduct of the event. He further encouraged players to see sports not just as a competitive pursuit but as a way of life, urging them to incorporate physical fitness and sporting spirit into their daily routines.
Earlier, DIG Armed Jammu, Vinod Kumar, welcomed the serving and retired police officers, participating teams, and guests. He also presented a brief overview of the various sporting events scheduled over the five-day meet. He underscored that the J&K Police, under its Civic Action Programme (CAP), continues to promote sports activities and is committed to providing platforms for budding athletes to showcase their talents at national and international levels. On the occasion a colourful Cultural Programme was also presented by the Cultural Team of J&K Police.
Earlier the ADGP Armed took salute of the March Past by various participating contingents. Among others present on the occasion were senior officers including Sunil Gupta, IGP Crime J&K, Vinod Kumar, DIG Armed Jammu, Mubashir Latifi , DIG Personnel PHQ, Senior Serving and Retired Police officers, commandants of Jammu based Units , Dalip Kumar, SSP, Staff Officer to ADGP Armed J&K, .
