Srinagar, Dec 22: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday apprehended absconder in Kishtwar who had been evading arrest for the past 24 years.
It is the second such case in the past 24 hours in the region, officials said.
SSP Kishtwar Khalil Poswal told Rising Kashmir that Kishtwar Police received information about the absconder, and following that a special team was constituted. The team raided the suspected location, leading to the arrest of Jamal Din from the Sidhara area of Jammu district, he said.
“The absconder, Jamal Din, son of Mohd Ramzan, resident of Dhalain Sinoo Tehsil Gandoh District Doda, was wanted in connection to FIR No. 12/1999 U/Sec. 364/RPC of PS Kishtwar. Following the arrest, Jamal Din has been produced before the Court in Kishtwar, where legal proceedings will take their course,” SSP Poswal said.
Earlier on Thursday Police apprehended Parvaiz Ahmed in Kishtwar, also known as @Haris, a former terrorist who had evaded arrest for the past 18 years.
SSP Poswal reiterated his warnings to all absconders, urging them to surrender at the nearest police station. Otherwise, stern action under Section 82/83 Cr. PC shall be taken against them, he added.
