Chandigarh, Oct 30: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national general secretary Tarun Chugh on Wednesday accused the Aad Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab of politicising the issue of paddy procurement in the state.
In a statement, Chugh said, “The poor paddy procurement process has starkly exposed the administrative inefficiency of the Bhagwant Mann government in supporting farmers. Shifting the blame to the Centre is yet another tactic the state government is using to mislead the people of Punjab.”
Chugh said the Centre has allocated over Rs 41,000 crores to the Bhagwant Mann government for paddy procurement. However, the state’s administrative machinery has collapsed, which ahs creating an artificial crisis that has left farmers in a difficult situation, he said.
“The Modi government has consistently supported farmers by not only increasing the MSP but also ensuring doorstep access to essential supplies like fertilizers. But the AAP government in Punjab has mishandled the entire situation, putting the farming community in crisis in a state that serves as the country’s food bowl,” the BJP leader added.
