A Cardiologist, his team, embark on a mission to minimise CVDs

Jammu, Feb 21:The renowned cardiologist of Jammu and Kashmir, Dr Sushil Sharma and his team of 150 volunteers are on a mission for past  more than 12 years, to make people aware of the causes and prevention of Cardio Vascular Diseases (CVD).
This team conducts free health awareness camps on every Sunday during which people are screened for various heart related ailments. In these camps free tests are conducted and free medicines are also given to the people. 
Head of the Department of Cardiology, Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H), Jammu, Dr Sushil Sharma, and his team are creating awareness about the causes of CVDs and how people can keep these heart diseases at bay.  
 
“I along with two other people from the health department started this campaign 12 years back and now we have a dedicated team of 150 people including para-medicals, doctors, technicians and others who screen people and make them aware of the causes of CVDs,” Dr Sushil told Rising Kashmir.  
“We have screened more than 4 lakh people in these 12 years and have made them aware about various measures to keep at bay the heart diseases by adopting a healthy lifestyle besides providing them free medicines and counselling,” Dr Sushil said.
Dr Sushil and his team have conducted health awareness camps at Bal Ashram, Jammu, Vridh Ashram Jammu, Orphan Home, and at many other places.  
“We conduct health awareness camps on the request of the people of a particular area, Dr Sushil said .
Dr Sushil is a recipient of more than 10 awards for his selfless services to the society. These awards  include State Award for Meritorious Service, Mahatma Gandhi Sewa Medal, FM 92.7 Duggar Desh Award, Global Peace Award, Double Helical Award, Rotarian Award, Kariyappa Award, Swami Vivekanand Award, Exceptional Community Service Award .
