Srinagar, May 23: Multi-level security arrangements have been put in place for the Anantnag-Rajouri Parliamentary Constituency ahead of the upcoming elections on May 25. In addition to the standard measures, special deployments have been made along Line of Control (LoC), border villages to ensure a smooth and secure voting process, officials on Thursday said.
A top police officer said that comprehensive security arrangements have been implemented across five districts of Anantnag-Rajouri Parliamentary Constituency to ensure smooth and peaceful polling. All necessary measures have been taken,” he said.
“We have intensified security measures including increased deployment of personnel, area dominations in hill regions, additional checkpoints, and round-the-clock monitoring of the region and vital installations,” the official said.
He said that several additional companies of security personnel have been deployed, bolstering a security setup managed by the Army, police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Border Security Force (BSF).
“Troops have been placed on alert along the Line of Control (LoC), and comprehensive security and contingency plans have been established for all 19 border polling stations,” officials said adding that they are closely maintaining a continuous close watch on the ground situation.
“Deployments have been made according to the requirements at all sensitive locations. Ground personnel are being regularly briefed, and grassroots-level synergy is crucial for optimal results. Night patrolling has been ordered in hypersensitive and border areas to prevent any subversive activities,” he stated.
The police officer said security forces are well-prepared to thwart any attempts to disrupt the peace. This year has been peaceful so far, and our goal is to maintain this atmosphere throughout the year.”
He also mentioned that various Quick Response Teams (QRTs) and other units will remain active as key components of the overall security setup for the day. “Inter-district checkpoints are set up to ensure a safe environment,” he added.
Meanwhile, security forces also carried out Area Domination Route Marches across all 5 districts in order to strengthen the security arrangements and for better area familiarization of newly inducted forces ahead of voting for parliament polls.
The areas of Rajouri falling under four assembly constituencies out of five will vote for parliamentary elections on 25th May for which new companies are security forces have been deployed in the district.
