Anantnag, May 21: Jammu and Kashmir Awami National Conference organised an election rally in the heart of Anantnag Parliamentary constituency on Tuesday, preceded by a roadshow.
The event organised by ANC District President Anantnag, Sajad Kenroo witnessed the presence of senior leadership from the National Conference, Congress, CPI (M and JKPM along with the host ANC, the party said in a statement issued here.
Presiding over the gathering was ANC Senior Vice President Muzzafar Shah, alongside former Congress Minister Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, former Minister and NC Constituency Incharge Peer Mohammad Hussain and Congress Vice President Abdul Gani Khan.
Additional notable attendees included Ghulam Nabi Malik, State Secretary CPI (M), Mohammad Abbas of CPI (M), Mohammad Ashraf Tantray of JKPM, Mir Ruvais, General Secretary Congress, Anees-ul-Islam, NC District Coordinator, Syed Saba from Youth NC, Hilal Ahmad Khandey, and Peerzada Hashim of NC.
The ANC senior leadership in attendance comprised Mir Mohammad Shafi, A.R. Wani, Mohammad Lateef Khan, Najeeb Kochak, Mohammad Sultan Bhat, Rahi Riyaz Ahmad, Aftab Ahmad Lavay, Atif Kant, Shazia Kounsar, Shabir Ahmad Paddar, Zahid Ahmad, and District Presidents from Shopian, Pulwama, and Ganderbal: Gulzar Nengroo, Bashir Ah Naikoo, and Shabir Ahmad Mir, respectively.
Addressing the crowd, Muzzafar Shah emphasised the month-long journey of organising public events across Jammu & Kashmir, highlighting the substantial support from the people.
“This massive turnout is a testament to the people’s resistance against forces trying to push a narrative that the issue of Article 370 has been compromised,” Shah declared. “I must humbly correct the Home Minister of our country that people have not voted in huge numbers for roads, water or electricity; they have come to register their resentment and their deep aspiration for the restoration of Article 370 through their vote. Had the people been content with what the BJP did on August 5th, 2019, they wouldn’t hesitate in nominating their candidates in Kashmir.”
Shah further added that the people of Jammu, Srinagar, Baramulla, Leh and Kargil have shown their resonance, the same will be done by the people of Anantnag-Rajouri on May 25. “I have no doubt that they will come out in large numbers and cast their votes in favour of the INDIA Alliance candidate of the National Conference. This will send a strong message to those who believe that the people of J&K are indifferent to their identity and constitutional rights,” he stated.
Muzzafar Shah praised the people of Baramulla for their resilience and commitment to the identity of the people of J&K. “The turnout in Baramulla is a clear indication of the people’s determination to uphold their identity and constitutional rights,” he noted.
The gathering also witnessed powerful addresses by esteemed guest speakers who collectively appealed to the people of Anantnag-Rajouri to vote for INDIA alliance candidate Mian Altaf of the National Conference.
“The audience, filled with enthusiasm, expressed their deep loyalty and commitment to the INDIA Alliance & pinned their hopes on a massive win on June 4,” the statement said.
