Srinagar, May 18: Srinagar’s Downtown area was bustling on Saturday as the shooting for “Singham Again” took place at Zaina Kadal.
The director of the movie, Rohit Shetty, along with lead actors Ajay Devgan and Jackie Shroff, were seen filming in this historic area, which was once a hotspot for stone-pelting.
When the actors arrived, hundreds gathered to witness the live shooting at the old Zaina Kadal bridge. According to eyewitnesses, men, women, and children thronged the area to see the filming in progress.
The Kashmir Valley has become a favourite destination for filmmakers. Previously, big stars like Shah Rukh Khan, John Abraham, and several other actors have shot their films in the valley. The decision to film “Singham Again” in Kashmir was made two years ago, following significant improvements in the region’s situation.
The tourism department is making efforts to ease the film policy, offering special concessions to filmmakers to attract more Bollywood projects to Kashmir. This initiative not only promotes tourism but also provides local artists with opportunities to play minor roles in these films, offering them a platform to showcase their talent.
A local artist from Srinagar told Rising Kashmir that, in the past, people from the valley had to travel to Mumbai to seek opportunities in Bollywood and other productions. However, in recent years, they have been getting these chances locally, which is a great development for local artists .
He mentioned that with “Singham Again” being shot locally, there is a good chance that some local artists will be hired, providing them with a livelihood. He expressed hope that such opportunities would continue to increase over time.
