Srinagar, May 04: One day “Scientist Sheep Breeders Meeting” was organized jointly by SKUAST-K startup Kashvet Innovations Private Limited and Mountain Research Centre for Sheep and Goat, Shuhama in which Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-K, Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai was the Chief Guest and Dean, FVSC & AH Prof. Mohammad Tufail Banday was Guest of Honour.
More than 60 sheep breeders across the Valley participated and interacted with the scientists and officers of the University.
Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor advised the farmers to adopt latest technologies developed by scientists of SKUAST-Kashmir. He impressed upon the veterinary scientists to make extra efforts in combating the challenges faced by sheep breeders by training them for proper record keeping, scientific feeding, breeding, health management.
He congratulated the SKUAST-K innovations & entrepreneurship centre, the organisers and scientists for their efforts in organizing such farmer centric programmes and ensuring lab to land transfer of technologies.
Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, Prof. M. T. Banday, Chief Scientist & Head MRCS&G, Prof. Abdul Majeed Ganai, Associate Director Research, Prof. Masood Saleem Mir, founder & Director Kashvet Innovations Dr Parvaiz Reshi, Dr Gowher Gull and Dr Mohsin Ayoub also spoke on the occasion.
Later Scientist-Farmer interaction was organised in which scientists from SKUAST-K and abroad answered the queries raised by farmers. The Scientists from abroad included Dr Firdous Ahmed Khan (Saint George University, USA), Dr Irfan Ahmed Khan and Dr Ambreen Hamdani. Earlier, Dr Hamdani also delivered an online lecture on Smart Sheep Breeder App and its importance for data recording and breed improvement. This Artificial intelligence driven applucation is the part of SKUAST-K’s future ready Agriculture initiative.
