‘We will soon decide with whom BJP workers will align in Kashmir’

Despite not contesting Lok Sabha elections in the Valley, J&K BJP chief Ravinder Raina, has reaffirmed the party’s dedication to serving the marginalized and underprivileged.  In an interview with Rising Kashmir’s Correspondent Aatif Qayoom, Raina stressed the BJP’s growing influence in Kashmir, highlighting victories in ULB elections and the party’s commitment to grassroots activism. Raina also discussed the impact of BJP governance in transforming Kashmir into a peaceful and prosperous region.

How do you defend BJP’s decision of not fielding any candidates in Kashmir?

From small workers to district presidents, everybody wants to see the BJP in this election. There are two types of elections: one merely to contest for the name, and another being contested to win. Our workers will decide whom they will support; they have electoral power to make anyone win in the election. Not contesting the elections in Kashmir was the party’s decision, and we all stand by the party’s decision. We will soon decide with whom BJP workers will align in Kashmir.

The BJP is a strong party in Kashmir; we have a good network here. The way the Modi government has served the people of Jammu and Kashmir, every individual in the Kashmir valley has benefited. Even the poorest are receiving free rations and shelters, and various schemes have been introduced for them. Every child in Kashmir supports the BJP. In every village of Kashmir, the BJP flag flies high.

The outcome of the parliamentary seat isn’t guaranteed, but if a candidate advocating brotherhood, peace, and prosperity, with a focus on serving the impoverished in North Kashmir, emerges victorious, it could greatly benefit the people. Such an individual, prioritizing the welfare of the people over personal gain, aligns with the community’s aspirations. Their victory would symbolize a shift towards inclusive governance, highlighting unity and socio-economic development. It’s an opportunity for North Kashmir to elect a leader who embodies their values and works towards a better future for all constituents, regardless of background or affiliation.

Does it imply BJP’s focus is only on Jammu region?

I’m currently in Kashmir, travelling to every corner of the region. My mission isn’t solely about garnering votes from the general populace; I consider myself a leader of the underprivileged, the orphans, and those abandoned by society. I am dedicated to serving the poor and marginalized. My guiding principles align with the teachings of Hazrat Muhammad (SAW), highlighting love for the nation and social welfare for all individuals.

Since 2019, BJP has been striving to gain power in J&K, but the situation in Kashmir hasn’t been favourable for the party?

The BJP has emerged victorious in ULB elections, securing seven Municipal chairmanships in Kashmir. Additionally, BDC and DDC members have won BJP tickets, signifying the party’s growing influence. The Lotus is blooming in Dal Lake, symbolizing the BJP’s increasing popularity in Kashmir. Efforts are being made to win over voters, as BJP aims to win the hearts of the people. Kashmiri residents have a deep respect for the nation, and BJP’s efforts are gradually gaining traction. In the upcoming assembly elections, BJP is poised to become the largest party in the valley, thanks to PM Modi’s leadership. Previously, Kashmir endured eight months of strikes, violence, and school closures. Under BJP governance, however, Kashmir has transformed into a tourist haven, welcoming over two crore visitors. G-20 events have been hosted here, showcasing the region’s progress. Hartals, bullets, and school closures were once commonplace, disrupting the lives of ordinary Kashmiris. Under BJP, these issues have been addressed, paving the way for peace and development in the region.

Omar Abdullah has stated that they will continue to fight for the restoration of Article 370. What’s your reaction??

As a respectful citizen of India, I hold the Constitution and its institutions in high regard, including the decisions of the Supreme Court. While I may have personal opinions, challenging the court’s rulings isn’t conducive to upholding the rule of law. It’s essential to respect the judiciary’s authority and the legal processes that uphold our democracy. Even if I disagree with a decision, I recognize the importance of abiding by it and fostering a culture of respect for our legal system.
