Ganderbal, Dec 07: Five persons lost their lives in yet another tragic road accident at Zojila Pass on Thursday. Officials revealed that the fatal incident occurred when a Xylo vehicle, bearing registration number JK07/1876 and en route from Srinagar to Kargil, skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge.
According to an official, a swift response was initiated by teams including personnel from P/S Sonamarg, led by SHO Fayaz Ahmad, SDRF Gund Component, PHC Sonamarg Team, and local residents. Despite their prompt efforts, the toll has risen to five confirmed fatalities.
The deceased have been identified as M Hussain (S/O G Jaffar, R/O Sanko), M Amin (S/O Gh Hasan, a resident of Sanko), Abdul Hadi (S/O Gh Hassan, a resident of Baroo), Shabir Hussain (S/O M Ibrahim, Driver), and M Akbar (resident of Balti Bazar, Kargil).
This unfortunate incident marks the second devastating road accident within three days at Zojila Pass. The previous mishap claimed the lives of five individuals.
Authorities are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding these accidents, and the community mourns the loss of lives.
