Srinagar, May 02: The Bharatiya Janata Party J&K Chief Ravinder Raina on Thursday visited the flood-affected areas of Handwara and Kupwara where he assured the affected families of all possible help.
“In this difficult time, we stand with all the affected families and assured them that we will take the matter to the LG administration, requesting all possible assistance,” Raina said.
He said the areas have suffered significant losses in the flood, and the BJP stands shoulder to shoulder with them, mentioning plans to visit all affected areas of the district.
During his visit, several people living in low-lying areas requested the BJP UT chief for sufficient land for housing construction. The affected residents in Bugam, Braripora, Kultoora, Kulangam, Handwara, Magam, and other areas also shared their plight.
Flash floods in Kupwara have damaged numerous houses, forcing residents to evacuate. Many houses have developed cracks, with the majority partially damaged. Significant damage has been caused to infrastructure in the northern town, impacting dozens of schools. This compelled the administration to relocate students to nearby schools.
Raina also met with several delegations and will address them on Friday in Handwara. “My visit here is solely to express sympathy with the affected families, and I will request the administration to assist them in this difficult time,” he said.
