Srinagar, May 01: The training programme on High Altitude Medicine and Basic Life Support (BLS) for 11 batches comprising 583 staff members, including doctors and paramedical staff, concluded on Wednesday at the Regional Institute of Health & Family Welfare (RIH&FW) in Dhobiwan village in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. This training programme was held for 11 days in preparation for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2024.
The programme was organised under the directions of Secretary to the Government, Health & Medical Education Department, Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah and the guidance and control of the Director of Health Services Kashmir, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather. The Principal of RIH&FW, in coordination with the In-Charge Yatra unit of the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir, facilitated the training, an official statement issued here said.
The primary objective of the training was to equip 583 medical professionals with essential knowledge and skills to handle any kind of medical emergencies during their deployment in the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2024. The programme was designed to provide crucial training to ensure the safe journey of yatris.
A team of master trainers from RIH&FW imparted training to the participants in a batch-wise manner, covering 11 batches across the 11-day training period. The focus of the programme was on acclimatisation, mental preparedness, high altitude sickness prevention and cure, essential medical aid skills, and emergency response for life support.
“The successful completion of this training programme marks a significant step towards ensuring the safety and well-being of all Yatris during the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2024. This initiative reflects the commitment of the health services department to provide the best possible medical support and care during the yatra,” the statement said.
