Manipur has been undergoing a terrible cycle of violence for a long time now. Numerous people have lost their lives in this continuous violence that has rendered people homeless. It has exposed social fault lines in Manipur that were dormant but not absent. The bloody terrorist attacks orchestrated by the Kuki radicals have turned Manipur into a conflict zone. The possession of highly sophisticated weaponry with the Kuki terrorists is a matter of grave concern. The recent attack by the terrorists on Saturday on the security forces has resulted in the martyrdom of two CRPF jawans, besides injuring others. Manipur has been rendered to a war zone.Kuki Terrorists are subjecting the Meiteis to terrible violence and indulging in their killings and genocidal attrition. This has resulted in creating fragile society.Traditional harmony has been destabilised. The terrorism in Manipur has external patronage by the Chinese saboteurs and evangelical fundamentalists who get western support to inflict demographic change in Manipur and encourage secession on the basis of religious lines. It must be remembered that North-East has been on the radar of China and the left extremism.A paradoxical situation that makes Manipur hostage to radicalism has many strands that converge to balkanise this territory of India and vivisect it. China and the evangelical forces are working in tandem right from the pre independence area. Conversions and persecution of the other religious groups has devastated the right to life and limb of the masses. Lakhs of people have been displaced from Manipur and reduced to penury.Security situation has gone berserk. It is a grave concern for the national security. Central Government must develop a proactive policy that takes the bull by the horns.Terrorism has created manifold issues in Manipur and as such it needs redressal with sensitivity.India must send a strong message to patrons of Kuki terrorists.People have been held to ransom. It must stop.People cant be left at mercy of the radicals.Human rights of the innocent must be upheld in any case. The level of terrorism present in Manipur needs an assault that takes into account the magnitude of its level to inflict damage.Terrorists have been targeting the public infrastructure and damaging the public property.A new policy has to be in place.Terrorists are using highly sophisticated weapons and killings people in groups. The safety of innocent people has been targeted. What is happening in Manipur is war of attrition and cannot be taken lightly as the society has been para militarlised. It is not a simple law and order problem that can be corrected by using traditional strategy of maintaining peace. Terrorists are trained professionally both from outside the borders and have strong military training centres in Manipur itself. It has not to be ruled out that Naxal link also exits. This cocktail helps the terrorists to have synergy in various areas to obstruct peace and run a parallel government. The level of violence that has been inflicted on the Meiteis also makes it clear that it is meant to complete their ethnic cleansing and change the demography of Manipur.Evangelists have pumped money and weapons to create havoc in Manipur. To brush it aside as just a law and order problem is meant to bail out the Kuki persecutors. The manner in which children and women have been targeted clearly shows the hatred of the terrorists towards the Meitis. India cannot afford to lose sight of this genocidal attrition. Peace must be restored in Manipur and Meitei refugees given complete security and provided security zones till they reclaim their homes and homeland.
