Jammu, Apr 26: JKPCC Working President and Congress candidate for the Jammu-Reasi parliamentary seat visited MAM College, where election authorities had relocated the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines from polling stations to the strong room. Bhalla was briefed that the strong rooms, now housing the sealed EVMs, would be under constant guard by security agencies, with political parties also deploying teams to monitor the facility.
Following the securing of the machines, Bhalla urged party candidates, officials, booth agents, and supporters to remain vigilant and ensure round-the-clock monitoring of the strong rooms. Emphasizing the need for continuous vigilance, he directed party functionaries to maintain a constant presence until the completion of the counting process.
“Security measures include multiple layers, with the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) providing the primary security layer, followed by the Jammu & Kashmir Police as the second layer,” a JKPCC statement issued here said, adding, “There is a third layer of security to safeguard the electoral materials. Despite security concerns, the credibility of the election process is bolstered by rigorous testing and the use of VVPAT machines.”
