Srinagar, Apr 22: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti on Monday said the people of Jammu and Kashmir will give a “befitting” reply to the Bharatiya Janata Party’s “misadventures” through ballots.
Addressing a public rally in south Kashmir’s Anantnag, Mehbooba said, “Jammu & Kashmir needs a strong voice to speak up against the machination of New Delhi. I am sure that people will reply befittingly against BJP’s misadventures on polling days.”
She said the ongoing contest for Lok Sabha is not confined to PDP or National Conference, rather it is a collective fight and people have to play their role in it. “My power is not valuable till you will not back me. J&K needs a credible voice who will represent the aspirations of J&K people in the Parliament,” she said.
Mufti also said the decisions taken after August 05, 2019, were “illegal” and “unconstitutional”, adding that New Delhi has “no option left” other than to reverse these declarations.
The PDP chief praised the people of the Anantnag-Rajouri constituency, saying, “I’m not confined to one place. Bijbehara is my hometown and the people here have raised me”.
Responding to a query, she said, “Every contest remains tough for a candidate but the love I received here from my people is heartwarming. The people of Jammu and Kashmir have understood that there is a need for a strong voice in Parliament.” (KNS)
