Srinagar, Apr 07: Senior Vice President J&K Peoples Conference and fommer Minister Abdul Gani Vakil on Sunday demanded the release of the salaries of daily wagers, casual labourers, Aanganwari workers and helpers, CiC operators, and other temporary workers of Jammu and Kashmir.
Vakil, in a statement, stressed the need for the UT administration. to release the salaries of the employees on account of Eid-ul-Fitr. “Eid festival is just a few days away, and these employees are expecting the government to release salaries in advance. Therefore, on this most important occasion, UT. Admin. should release the pending wages of these employees so that they could manage Eid expenses and celebrate the festival with all joy and happiness,” he added.
The former minister said the daily wagers are working hard day and night serving the people and making the departments functional, but still, it is unfortunate that these people have been left in the lurch.
Although it is the responsibility of the administration to help these poor people restore their lives and livelihoods, especially those who make their ends meet on their daily earnings, he said.
“A large number of daily wage earners, Annaganwari workers and helpers, and other temporary or need-based employees have been without salaries for months together, so it would be a great injustice if their pending salaries, which are a meagre amount, were not paid on this important occasion,” Vakil said. He urged the administration to release their pay and let their families celebrate Eid happily.
