Jammu, Jan 18: JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla Wednesday flagged off preparatory Bharat Joda Yatra rally at Guru Nanak Nagar that passed through Preet Nagar, Digiana, Shastri Nagar and culminated at Nai Basti.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla said Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra will create history in J&K. “Response to Bharat Jodo Yatra is unprecedented, it will create history,” he said, adding that the overwhelming response that the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ has been receiving has taken political observers by surprise.
The congress leader said the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ is not only enabling a massive contact programme for the Congress but also introducing itself once again to the ground. The yatra, he adds, is also effectively rejuvenating the cadres of the party who have long remained dormant.
Bhalla said yatra “is a mass mobilisation campaign, and it is not aiming at the upcoming elections. It is a campaign to unite India against the divisive forces”.
Congress leader Yogesh Sawhney speaking on the occasion alleged that the BJP has pushed Jammu and Kashmir into unprecedented political uncertainty by failing to maintain law and order and indulging in politics of hate.
“BJP ever since getting access to power in Delhi had been on a rampage of dispossessing and disempowering common people of Jammu and Kashmir. It’s not about a particular community or a sect, they have gone berserk against all of us collectively. We have been used as political cannon fodders by BJP all across the country”, Sawhney said.
He said people want change, as the BJP has failed on all fronts of governance especially unchecked price rise, record unemployment besides other anti-employees, anti-trade, anti-poor politics in J&K.”The people of Jammu and Kashmir have only one option to fight this monster of hate and discrimination, that option is the Indian National Congress, the only party which hasn’t and which will never cozy with BJP,” he said
