Jammu, Sept 19: The agitating Kashmiri Pandit (KP) employees on Monday asked the J&K government to either provide them a sense of security in Kashmir Valley or cancel the “oppressive orders” issued against them by different government departments.
Several administrative heads in Kashmir Valley have recently issued show cause notices to Kashmir Pandit employees engaged under the PM and non-PM packages over their “unauthorised absence” from the “legitimate duties” triggering a panic among the employees protesting in Jammu demanding a pause on their services in Kashmir until the situation improves in Valley.
“Either the government should provide us proper security in Kashmir Valley or take back its oppressive orders,” the All Migrant (Displaced) Employees Association Kashmir said here today.
One of the employees said that after the repeated attacks on their community employees in Valley, when they moved to Jammu, around 25 Kashmiri Pandit delegations met LG Manoj Sinha seeking security.
“But we got nothing except lip services,” he said.
He further said that the KP employees are being promised transfers and promotions for their services in Kashmir Valley.
“But if we’re killed in Kashmir Valley what will we do with the promotions and transfers?” he asked.
Another employee said that there are 6000 PM and non-PM package employees serving in Kashmir Valley.
“Of them hardly 1000 employees live in the government constructed transit camps while the rest of them live in different places on their own”.
“When those living in the transit camps don’t feel safe, do you think those living outside are safe?” he asked.
“It was only a sense of insecurity in Kashmir Valley that forced our community to leave Kashmir and start an agitation in Jammu for our safety.
If the government wants to scrap the transfer policy it can…..if they want to stop promoting KP employees they can…..But we cannot live in a place where our people are killed on a daily basis,” he added.
Pertinently, the ongoing strike of recently displaced Kashmiri Pandit employees in Jammu has entered its 130th day today.
