Srinagar, Oct 29: A 21-year-old youth was held for allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting a minor girl in Syed Colony Nishat.
Srinagar police in a tweet said, “A minor girl of around 13 years (name withheld) was kidnapped & sexually assaulted by one Adil Shafi Hajam (21 yrs) S/o Md Shafi Hajam, R/o Syed colony, Nishat. FIR No. 61/22 was registered at Rajbagh under Sections 366, 376 IPC, and 3/4 POCSO Act. PS. The special team was constituted and the accused was arrested.
A senior police official told Rising Kashmir that they have received a written complaint from the family of the minor girl stating that the minor girl was kidnapped and sexually assaulted by Adil Shafi.
The officer said that upon this complaint, the accused has been arrested, a case has been registered against the accused, and further investigation has been set in motion.
This is the second incident in less than a week. Earlier this week, “Police station Sadder received a complaint from a lady that her minor daughter had been raped by one of the accused, namely Shahid Ahmad, son of Shabir Ahmad Bhat, resident of Galwanpora, Hyderpora.”
“To this effect, case FIR No.103/22 under sections 3/4 of the POCSO act and 363,376,506 of the IPC was registered in Saddar Police Station and an investigation was set into motion.”
