Srinagar, Sep 22: Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh on Thursday said that Zainapora Shopian was once hotbed of terrorism in south Kashmir and “now it is almost terror free”.
Addressing the media persons on the sidelines of event, DGP Singh said Zainapora is same place which was known as hotbed of terrorism in the past. Now time has come that this area (Zainapora belt) is almost terrorism free and people are also happy with the drastic change, he said.
DGP Singh said they have seen youth here are enthusiastic to join the police department; some were concerned about employment opportunities.
“People of the area also acknowledged that Police, security forces jointly worked along with civil administration to bring peace in the area, ” he said.
DGP Singh said in the area of development, the administration has constructed a theater. It seems the size of the theater is smaller as more youth are coming for entertainment, he said.
“It is the place where children, elders, women and families can entertain themselves. In Srinagar we have also opened the multiplex,” DGP Singh said.
Meanwhile ADGP Kashmir, Vijay Kumar said that people are sharing direct feedback with police during “Thana Divas” programs. “We are proud of our decisions that connect to our roots in the society,” he said.
