Srinagar, Nov 29: As a part of enhancing the capacity of psychologists & counsellors of SUKOON, the Divisional Administration Kashmir started a training module on the essentials of online & telephonic counselling as well as didactic training for psychologists and counsellors at the Institute of Mental Health & Neurosciences, Srinagar.
The objective of the training programme is to make SUKOON versatile and compatible to address issues of substance abusers and mental health issues of the general public.
Pertinently SUKOON Helpline line 1800-180-7202 has proved very fruitful in addressing substance-induced mental disorders.
SUKOON works as an interface between substance users and experts who pull drug abuse victims out of the menace through counselling and medicine.
Incharge of Divisional Control Room Kashmir and SUKOON Mental Helpline, Tahir Magrey while speaking about the training programme said that the training programme aims to equip the counsellors with communication skills congruous with theneeds of psychological counselling. He added that SUKOON is a platform where people particularly youth can give vent their anguish in a conducive atmosphere besides imparting guidance regarding detoxifying themselves in the case involved in substance abuse. He said, Divisional Administration is committed to purging society from the evil of drug and substance abuse and concerted efforts are being made by the administration to eradicate drug abuse and remove the stigma associated with post-rehabilitation.
