At least two residential houses and a cowshed were gutted in fire incidents in Geeripora, Magam area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Monday morning.
According to reports, early morning, a fire erupted in a residential house and spread to nearby houses.
Eyewitnesses told Rising Kashmir that soon after the fire erupted, the locals present there swung into action and were immediately joined by the firemen.
Confirming the incident, an official of the fire and emergency department said two houses and a cowshed were gutted in a fire incident, adding that no one was injured in the blaze.
To a query, the officer said, “Prima facie suggests due to the leak, the fire had erupted,” but he said after proper investigation, the exact cause could be determined.
