Srinagar, Oct 21: The Meteorological Department (MeT) Friday predicted that weather will mainly remain dry for the next 10 days in Kashmir.
The ski resort Gulmarg continued to remain under sub-zero temperatures for the second day and settled at minus 2.0°C.
Deputy Director MeT, Mukhar Ahmad told Rising Kashmir that snowfall in upper reaches and rain in plains during the past three days resulted in gradual decrease in day temperatures in Kashmir.
“As expected, the weather improved significantly in Kashmir on Friday. We are expecting mainly dry weather till October 31st.
He said in the coming days, there will be a slight decrease in day temperatures in the Valley and evenings will be colder.
On Friday, Srinagar recorded 15.5 °C as the maximum and 5.5 °C as the minimum temperature. Ski-resort Gulmarg recorded a maximum of 4.4 °C while its minimum temperature settled at 2.0°C. It was the coldest place in Kashmir.
Health resort Pahalgam recorded 12.2 °C and a minimum of 2.0 °C degrees. Qazigund recorded a maximum of 14.8°C respectively and 3.8° C as minimum temperature.
Kupwara in north Kashmir recorded maximum temperatures of 16.7 °C, while minimum temperatures settled at 5.5 °C respectively.
As per the traffic advisory issued by the traffic department for Saturday, subject to fair weather and better road condition, LMVs(passengers) shall be allowed from both sides of Jammu-Srinagar NHW viz Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa.
“TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing the traffic, it said.
Similarly, on historic Mughal roads, no traffic movement shall be allowed in view of snow accumulation.
