Srinagar, Sept 26: The government of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday threw much awaited 500-bedded Children Hospital, Bemina open for patients.
With the operations of this maiden healthcare facility in Valley, the common people and civil society across have lauded the move.
The 500-bedded hospital was thrown open by Principal GMC Srinagar Dr.Samia Rashid along with HOD of the hospital, Dr. Muzaffar Jan.
Speaking to the media on the side-lines of the occasion, Dr. Jan said the new healthcare facility will facilitate patients in terms of both space and facilities and will ease the staff as well.
“With the opening of this new hospital we will be able to deal with flow of patients. The hospital is equipped with hi-tech equipments pertaining to minors. The facility will massively ease out the job to deal with emergencies”, Dr. Jan said.
He said that besides routine OPDs and IPDs, they are also starting sub-specialties including Cardiology, Nephrology and Orthopedics at the hospital.
Meanwhile attendants who visited on the opening ceremony of the hospital expressed delight at the shifting of the children’s hospital at Bemina. They said the new hospital enlightened the hope of people across valley who were surviving in tough times in absence of good infrastructure.
“Erstwhile we were moving from pillar to post to get medical attention to our kids as there were space crunch existing which was the major obstruction in healthcare facility. However today we are hopeful our grievances will be addressed and due attention will be given towards patient care”, Maymoona of south Kashmir’s Anantnag spoke to Rising Kashmir.
She said though the hospital infrastructure looks advanced in all respects but we are hopeful patient care in the newly opened hospital would be at par.
The hospital administration has deputed sizable number of employees at different points on the inaugural ceremony.
Banners scripted with health directives were displayed inside the hospital and employees of Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir were pressed into service for facilitating and guiding visitors.
The 500-bedded hospital was approved in 2013 and construction work was started accordingly. The hospital had already started partial OPD services few weeks ago, with an aim to divert the flow of patients from BB Cant Hospital, Sonawar to the newly constructed set-up.
