Awantipora, Dec 15: Vice-chancellor Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) Awantipora, Prof Shakil Ahmad Romshoo on Thursday flagged off the University Football Team (Men) for participation in the Inter-University Football Tournament commencing from Friday at GNA University Phagwara, Punjab.
The sixteen-member squad shall take part in the tournament in which 80 teams from all across the country are participating. The Vice Chancellor wished the team the best and urged the players to play the game in great spirit and be the best ambassadors of the university. He said the university is committed to further developing sports infrastructure and encouraging students to participate in sports events held at the national and international levels and emphasised that such opportunities allow the participants to learn from each other and encourage sportsmanship and fraternity.
The visiting team shall be accompanied by the officials of the Directorate of Physical education, IUST.
