Srinagar, Dec 29: Srinagar city is set to be equipped with Smart Poles with Wi-Fi hubs, Real Time Noise Monitoring System, local forecast with Weather Station Grid and a Common Mobility card under the upcoming smart city projects.
Around 65 projects are in pipeline under the Smart City Project. The government of India has so far pumped in Rs 195 Cr funds for the Srinagar Smart City Limited (SSCL) out of which Rs 125 stand transferred, according to the SSCL report.
According to Divisional Commissioner Kashmir P K Pole, who is also chairman of SSCL, the new proposed upcoming projects in Srinagar city include Smart Poles with Wi-Fi hubs, local forecast with Weather Station Grid and much more.
According to the SSCL report on upcoming projects, among other, the major upcoming smart projects are the Real Time Noise Monitoring System, Real-Time Water Quality Monitoring System, Multi-Services underground ducting and Common Mobility card.
The central government over the next five years would pay a selected smart city Rs 500 crore while the state/union territory would pay an equal amount within the same time frame, officials in the SSCL told Rising Kashmir.
The Real-Time Water Quality Monitoring System will provide real-time water monitoring of the water bodies in the city that aids in providing better quality water for consumption and help gauge the water quality of our lakes and rivers
The Real-Time Noise Monitoring System will provide real-time Noise monitoring around identified high-noise spots in the city which will help in providing real-time quality data to the government, which can then devise plans to mitigate them.
The Common Mobility card can be used for multiple services like; Bus and other transportation fares, Pay for parking, Paying for tolls on roads, Use for shopping at designated retailers and withdraw cash at ATMs.
Similarly, Yarkand Sarai is envisioned to be turned into a craft museum that will highlight some of the local arts and crafts. The residents will be rehabilitated to a better place, officials confirmed, and they are working out on it.
As of date, 39 projects have been completed under Smart City Project while the work on 34 projects is undergoing.
