Union Home Minister kept his word, did justice with Paharis: Raman Suri

Jammu, Nov 04: BJP J&K Executive Member Raman Suri Friday said that the government at the Centre is committed to build a strong India and do justice with every section of the society, which is why it keeps its promises made to the people or incorporated in its party manifesto.
He said this was quite evident from the fact that the Union Home minister Amit Shah had last month in October promised ST status for Paharis and now, the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) approved inclusion of Pahari ethnic group, Paddari Tribe, Koli and Gadda Brahmans in the Scheduled Tribes (STs), proposal for which will now go to the Cabinet. This will also get a seal of the Parliament very soon.
Pathania added that as promised by Amit Shah, this reservation will not affect the status of Gujjars and Bakerwals. Earlier also, BJP had resolved and abrogated Article 370 and did justice with displaced persons from West Pakistan and Valmikisamaj by granting them voting rights.
They had been living here since partition without enjoying this right but the BJP government empowered them by striking-off Article 370 that blocked their way to progress.
Raman Suri said, now Paharis are getting their due share as well. Earlier also, the nine seats were reserved for ST people in the 90-member state legislative assembly. These developments have empowered the ST community, which will not only get reservation in jobs but also in the state legislature. This is political empowerment of Gujjars, Bakerwals and Paharis without affecting anyone’s prospectus.
Extending his gratitude to the Union Home Minister Amit Shah for conceding to the long pending demand of Paharis, Raman Suri said that all this could become possible only because the BJP government led by Prime Minister NarendraModi is sensitive to public issues and has a special place for Jammu and Kashmir on its cards. This is a reformative measure that will help people in the long run.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during his public rallies in Rajouri on October 4 and Baramulla on October 5, had said that Gujjars, Bakerwals and Paharis will get the reservations as per recommendations of Justice GD Sharma Commission and the same came true. This is how words are translated into action on the ground. The Congress, National Conference or People’s Democratic Party, Raman Suri said, had always been making false promises with people for their vested interests, which is definitely not the case with BJP, which always does what it says.
