Srinagar: Dec 17:  In order to revitalize the internal hierarchy and infuse new blood into the forum activities, the Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum (JKTF) on Thursday reframed the district body for the Srinagar district and its zonal level bodies.

At a special ceremony held in Srinagar, the forum elected Mr. Muhammad Ayaz Bhat as the new President for the Srinagar district while elevating Mr. Farooq Ahmad Lasjani and other office bearers in provincial and state bodies.

Among others who were elected to the district body, include: Shahnawaz Amin as the Vice President, Zikra Rehman as Vice President, Dr. Mohammad Rafiq as the Convener, Javid Haleem as the Organiser, Aleem WaheedUl Rehman as the Coordinator, Aqib Gani as the Secretary, Yasir Hamid as the Joint Secretary, Muhammad Shafi as the Advisor, Zaid Bin Manzoor as the Executive Member, Ishfaq Ahmad as the Treasurer, Dr.Nazima Gul as Executive Member, Bilquees Anjum as the Executive Member, Zuha Qadir as the Executive Member, Arshid Ahmad Mattoo as the Publicity Secretary, Yawar Hayat Shafi as the Advisor, Sajid Hussain as the Executive Member, Rouf Ahmad Rather as the Spokesperson and Ajaz Ahmad Guchay as the Media Coordinator.

The reorganization in the body was needed to reactivate the cadre, especially in Srinagar, to speed up the efforts to resolve several pending administrative and service issues of teacher fraternity.

While speaking at the ceremony, Muhammad Ayaz Bhat thanked the leadership of JKTF for honoring and entrusting him the responsibility of the strategically important Srinagar, promising to work sincerely and dedicatedly for the welfare of the students, schools and employees.

He cited several challenges and issues currently faced by the schools and the employees ranging from infrastructure to service matters, and pledged that he with the support of his team will overcome these challenges and leave no stone unturned in resolving all these issues.

Referring to the pressing demands concerning the teachers, Mr. Ayaz said that the teachers in the Union Territory fall in the least Grade-Pay category compared to all other UTs in India. “We want that teachers in JK should be paid at par with other UTs in India. Moreover, there should be a well-panned career progression for all teachers in the department.

Besides, teachers appointed under erstwhile SRO-202 have been denied increments for initial 2-year probationary period. We will approach anyone and everyone to press for the demands,” he said.

State President, Mohammad Shafi Rather congratulated the newly elected president and said that the district presidents have provided unflinching support to the organization and brought the forum to the place where it stands today. He also complimented Mr. Farooq Ahmad Lasjani, Haji Idrees and Asif Iqbal for their selfless work and congratulated them for their new assignments.
