Pulwama: A private school has been sealed by authorities of education department in a village in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday for violating norms.
Rising Kashmir was informed by zonal education officer Shadimarg, Ghulam Hassan Kumar, that a lower primary school was operating at Bagh Sangerwani village without registration from past couple of years.
He said that the management of the private school was given reminders for completing registration process multiple times but till date they failed to comply.
“On instructions of chief education officer Pulwama the school, Ummul Qurra Public School Bagh Sangerwani, was sealed,” he said, adding that they found the school already padlocked.
“We put one more lock on the already padlocked gate,” he said.
He said that they held an interaction with parents of students of the said school and other representatives of the village.
He said that they (parents) were informed that they can send their wards to nearby government schools namely upper primary school Bagh Sangerwani and Primary School Payeen.
The ZEO was asked by the office of chief education officer Pulwama video letter number CEO/PUL/ GS/22/ dated 22-10-2022 that one private school, “Ummul Qurra Public School Bagh Sangerwani” is running without registration in gross of rules and norms.
“Further, this office has issued instructions from time to time regarding, closure of all such private schools which are running illegally without registration and the running of this school continuously in your zone is showing, the negligence on your part and has caused the embarrassment to the department,” the letter reads.
The ZEO concerned was asked to explain his position within two days positively.
The ZEO was directed to take necessary immediate action against the private school running illegally and for sharing action taken report with the office of CEO Pulwama within two days positively without any fail.
Fida Hussain Shah, owner of the school, said that the school was inaugrated a couple of years ago and eruption of COVID pandemic hampered their registration process.
“ The registration process was previously done through offline mode for which we had completed all formalities,” he said, adding that before submitting their file applying through online mode was made mandatory.
“We need around 15 NOC’s for online registration, we have acquired 6 NOC’s and are in the process of getting others,” he said.
He pleaded authorities for granting him some time to complete the registration process on humanitarian grounds for securing future of students who will get affected due to closure of the school.
