Srinagar, July 10: Around 150 medical camps of the Sheep Husbandry Department are remaining functional 24 hours to provide proper veterinary care to the livestock in the highland pastures during the seasonal migration time in Kashmir Valley.
An official from the Sheep Husband Department Kashmir told Rising Kashmir that the seasonal migration of the livestock from the plains to highland pastures across the valley starts in the month of May every year.
“The shepherds and nomadic people migrate towards the highland pastures along with their livestock from May. This year, the Sheep & Husbandry Department of Kashmir has established 150 camps where doctors and other staff remain available 24 hours and provide veterinary care, dosing, vaccination, and first aid to the live stocks whenever it is needed in the highland pastures,” he said.
The doctors and other staff that are performing their duties in the highland pastures are moving from one pasture to another so that proper assistance and medical treatment can be provided to livestock, he said.
“These 150 camps remain fully in touch with district-level officers and the Sheep Husbandry Department, through which the department is also providing necessary information and advisory to the people who are grazing their livestock in the highland pastures,” the official added.
