Srinagar, March 1: Srinagar Police launched a manhunt on Wednesday for the driver who hit the personal security officer (PSO) at Batmaloo, whose rifle was also discharged, and no one was injured.
Traffic police in Srinagar said that a speeding vehicle plying without a number plate was asked to stop, and the driver accelerated the vehicle and hit the PSO, whose weapon was also discharged in the incident. They said soon after the incident, the injured cop was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, where He is being treated and doing well.
A speeding vehicle hit the PSO, causing him to fall to the ground. In the chaos that followed, the PSO’s weapon accidentally discharged, but no damage or injury was reported. The driver fled the scene before anyone could identify him. Several vehicles on the side-lines were also damaged in the incident.
Taking to microblogging site Twitter, Traffic City Srinagar (@SSPTFCSGR) wrote, “A speeding vehicle without a number plate hit and injured a PSO of a traffic officer on duty, resulting in the accidental discharge of the PSO’s weapon; no damage or injury was reported.”
Speaking to reporters about the incident, Traffic SSP confirmed the incident and that the vehicle was plying rashly without a number plate. Adding to the incident, a cop has been injured, a case has been registered at Police Station Batmaloo, and a manhunt has been launched.
He said the police will trace him soon and take legal action against the accused, who hit the cop and fled from the spot. Srinagar police are working to find him as soon as possible.
He stated that the traffic police in Srinagar are working on different violations, which include challans for not installing the HRSPP number plate. A special drive is being conducted against this.
