World Red Cross Day: DC Srinagar inaugurates Blood Donation Camp at DC Office

Srinagar, May 08: In Connection with celebrations of ‘World Red Cross Day’, District Red Cross Society Srinagar in collaboration with the Health Department Monday organised a Blood Donation Camp within the premises of DC Office Complex which was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad who is also the Chairman District Red Cross Society.
 Chief Medical officer, Srinagar, Dr Jameel Ahmad, other senior Health functionaries, volunteers, Officials of DC Office and members of District Red Cross Society were present on the occasion.
During the Camp, about 50 participants including Officials of the DC Office, Srinagar, Red Cross Volunteers and local people voluntarily donated the blood.
Speaking on this occasion, the DC urged people to donate blood voluntarily as it is a great service to humanity and helps in saving precious lives. He said that our single drop of blood can save precious lives and we should participate in such programmes for safeguarding humanity.
While lauding the contribution of Blood Donation Volunteer, Shabir Hussain Khan of Srinagar, who also donated blood on the occasion and has already donated blood more than 180 times, the DC stressed that every healthy person should come forward and donate their blood for this noble cause to increase the blood capacity in our health system.
Congratulating Blood Donors, Volunteers and members of District Red Cross Society, the DC urged upon people to come forward for blood donation and said that the Administration highly recognizes and appreciates the selfless service of the blood donors for the entire society.
The process of Blood Donation camp was conducted by the Health team of JLNM Hospital Rainawari.
 
 
DC Srinagar felicitates toppers of IIT-JEE Mains Examination 2023
In order to encourage the meritorious students and to boost their morale, the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad on Monday felicitated four students from RISE Institute who have achieved a remarkable feat by securing an outstanding score of 99+ percentile in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2023.
The Deputy Commissioner felicitated the students namely Nadeem Shabir 99.32, Muiz Zubair 99.19, Azharul Shams 99.18, Peerzada Shabir 99.05 in his Office Chamber with certificate of excellence, as a mark of encouragement for their future endeavours.
The DC congratulated them for showing brilliant performance and said that the JEE Main exam is considered one of the toughest engineering entrance exams in India and is the gateway to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and National Institutes of Technology (NITs).
The DC said this exceptional performance is a testament of hard work, dedication, and academic ability of these students and is a proud moment not just for them but also for RISE and the community as a whole.
The DC hoped that the success achieved by the students would inspire other students also to work hard to excel in their studies and academic careers.
