Anantnag, July 12: The panic buying of petrol has left several filling stations dry across this south Kashmir’s Anantnag district. The closure of the highway in Jammu and Kashmir has exacerbated the situation, resulting in a petroleum crisis that has plunged the residents into a state of distress.
The scarcity of fuel has unleashed widespread inconvenience and hardship, with people grappling to meet their daily transportation needs. The closure of the Srinagar-Jammu highway, a critical lifeline for the region, has severely disrupted the supply chain of petroleum products, leading to the current crisis.
Umar Ahmad, a local said, “It is a distressing situation for all of us. The shortage of petrol has made our lives incredibly difficult. We are struggling to commute to work and fulfill essential obligations.”
Manzoor Ahmad, a local businessman, while expressing frustration said, “The fuel shortage has had a significant impact on my business operations. Deliveries are delayed, and transportation costs have skyrocketed. It is a challenging situation for everyone.”
An official from the administration told Rising Kashmir, “We are fully aware of the inconvenience faced by the residents due to fuel shortage. The administration is working tirelessly to resolve the issue.”
According to Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, the fresh supply of petrol will arrive on Wednesday evening.
