Srinagar, June 14: Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organisation (JKTPO) under the guidance of Commissioner/ Secretary to the Government, Industries & Commerce Department and under the supervision of Managing Director JKTPO organized a successful on-boarding drive on Walmart Vriddhiat JKEDI, Pampore on Wednesday.
More than 45 local entrepreneurs participated in the drive and 25 were registered on-spot from various sectors viz Handloom & Handicrafts, Agro and Food, manufacturing sector, etc. JKTPO is continuously organising such promotion activities including on-boarding on e-commerce platforms to enable local entrepreneurs to showcase and sell their products across the world.
The on-boarding drive is a significant milestone in the continued efforts of JKTPO, and Walmart Vriddhi to foster economic growth and promote digital commerce in Jammu and Kashmir. These workshops have helped create awareness about the benefits of leveraging the power of e-commerce through Walmart Vriddhi and expanding their reach beyond traditional boundaries.
During the event, it was observed that local entrepreneurs hesitate to register for GST which is the primary document for registration on any e-commerce platform, however, the same misconception of GST registration and its advantages such as GST refund, input tax credit in B2B trading was briefed and cleared by the officials.
As of now, over 100 sellers have completed the registration and learning process of on-boarding out of which over 20 sellers are live on the Walmart Vridhi platform. A similar on-boarding drive for the Jammu division shall be held on June 16 at Udyog Bhawan, JKTPO said, adding that it shall continue the spree of such events to endorse e-commerce on-boarding of potential entrepreneurs and boost the socio-economic scenario of J&K.
