Ganderbal, Mar 30: Several families residing in KawbaghNuner village of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Thursday expressed concerns about the lack of clean water, as the Jal Shakti Department has not yet installed a filtration plant in the area.
According to locals, they are being forced to use contaminated water from the River Drains, which poses a threat of spreading deadly diseases in the region. Despite numerous requests, the department has turned a blind eye to the basic needs of the community.
A resident stated that the absence of clean drinking water has been a persistent issue in the area, and that no concrete measures have been taken by the authorities to address this concern.
In response, Executive Engineer of the Jal Shakti Department in Ganderbal, stated that only five to six families lack access to proper drinking water. He also assured that the department is committed to providing clean water to the area, and under the Jal Jeevan Mission, the matter will be addressed on a priority basis within the next two months.
